In my role leading BAYC, I spearheaded a diverse array of gaming and digital projects that pushed the boundaries of the web3 space. From groundbreaking web3 games that set new industry standards to scrappy, DIY digital initiatives, our work expanded the BAYC universe in ways that had never been done before. We introduced innovative gameplay, developed compelling storylines, and brought new characters to life, marking the first major expansion of the BAYC ecosystem since the launch of the Mutant Apes.

The BAYC community thrives in an ever-evolving digital landscape, and it was crucial to leverage experimental ideas in social media, gaming, and digital activations. Over the past two years, we not only contributed to the growth of the web3 industry but also set new benchmarks and achieved record-breaking milestones. This collection showcases the creativity, strategy, and impact of our digital and gaming projects, underscoring BAYC’s role as a leader in the web3 revolution.

Dookey Dash 1.0

Overview: "Dookey Dash 1.0" was a groundbreaking web3 gaming experience that redefined how NFTs are minted, capturing the attention of the entire Ethereum network.

Challenge: We aimed to create an engaging and competitive game that not only entertained the BAYC community but also introduced a new way of minting NFTs based on skill and gameplay performance.

Solution: The game required players to mint a Sewer Pass NFT to participate. Players navigated the BAYC sewers, collecting cosmic fragments while avoiding obstacles. The longer they survived and the more fragments they collected, the greater their reward. This skill-based minting experience was the first of its kind in the web3 space.

Results: Dookey Dash took up 50% of all Ethereum network traffic for several days, with 25,525 pass holders logging over 706,436 hours of gameplay (That’s 80+ years!). The BAYC ecosystem grew by 40% during this period.

HV-MTL Forge: The Game

Overview: "HV-MTL Forge" introduced a new era in BAYC's gaming narrative, allowing players to build, customize, and evolve their unique HV-MTL NFTs in a highly creative and strategic environment.

Challenge: We wanted to expand the BAYC universe by creating a game that combined world-building, strategy, and community interaction, offering players a deeper connection to their HV NFTs.

Solution: "HV-MTL Forge" began as a crafting game where players built and personalized their forges. Over time, the game evolved into a rogue-lite action quest, with players competing to win part of a $500k Ape Coin prize purse. The game featured rich 3D environments, community voting on user created ‘forge’ designs, and continuous content updates that kept players engaged.

Results: The game maintained a high retention rate, with players actively participating in crafting, battling, and evolving their HVs. It set a new standard for web3 gaming with its blend of creativity, strategy, and competition.

HV-MTL Forge: The Hunt

Overview: "The Hunt" was a high-octane expansion of "HV-MTL Forge," challenging players to explore new biomes, gather resources, and fight enemies in a quest for ultimate rewards.

Challenge: After the success of "HV-MTL Forge," we wanted to evolve the gameplay and narrative, offering players new challenges and deeper engagement in the BAYC universe.

Solution: Players were introduced to five new biomes, each with unique enemies and resources. The stakes were higher, with players competing to defeat a powerful boss and climb the leaderboard. The top players were rewarded with winnings from a $500k ApeCoin prize purse.

Results: The Hunt added a new layer of excitement and competition to the BAYC gaming ecosystem, driving a 25% spike in daily users and a 30% increase in social engagement during its run.

BAYC.com Redesign

Overview: The redesigned BAYC.com became the digital hub for the BAYC community, blending web2 and web3 elements to create an immersive experience for both members and the general public.

Challenge: We needed to create a brand home for BAYC that would serve as a central hub for the world’s most famous NFT community while also being accessible and engaging for new users.

Solution: The new BAYC.com was designed as a visually rich, immersive environment that showcased the BAYC lore, allowed members to showcase their NFTs, and provided a user-friendly experience for exploring the BAYC universe. The site featured sleek animations, a collection gallery, and a members-only area that offered exclusive content and personalization.

Results: The new site boosted traffic by 50% and user interaction by 30%, becoming the go-to destination for all things BAYC.

HV-MTL NFT Collection

Overview: The HV-MTL NFT Collection introduced 30,000 unique, 1:1 evolving NFT characters to the BAYC universe, setting a new standard for web3 gaming and digital collectibles.

Challenge: We aimed to create an innovative and engaging NFT collection that would seamlessly integrate into the BAYC narrative and provide long-term value and utility for holders.

Solution: The HV-MTL Collection was launched through "The Summoning," an event that followed the conclusion of the original Dookey Dash game. Players who participated in Dookey Dash received a Power Source, which evolved into one of the 30,000 HV-MTL characters. Each HV-MTL character was designed to evolve based on player interactions within the HV-MTL Forge game, offering a dynamic and interactive ownership experience.

Results: The HV-MTL Collection captivated the BAYC community, with all 30,000 units minted quickly. The collection's integration with HV-MTL Forge added layers of gameplay and engagement, making it a standout success in the NFT space.

HV-MTL EVO1 Reaver Class

BAYC Avatar Collection - 10k Unique 3D Models

Overview: The 10k Unit BAYC Avatar Collection provided fully modeled and rigged 3D avatars for every BAYC holder, pushing the boundaries of how NFTs can be utilized in both virtual and real-world applications.

Challenge: We needed to create a comprehensive collection of high-resolution, fully customizable 3D avatars that BAYC holders could use to represent their apes across various platforms, including our metaverse “Otherside” and existing & new UGC tools.

Solution: We developed 10,000 unique 3D avatars based on the original art of the BAYC PFP Collection, each fully rigged and ready for animation. These avatars were designed to be compatible with various platforms, including the BAYC metaverse experience, Otherside. The collection also includes a new UGC tool on BAYC.com (launching in September), enabling holders to create animated videos of their apes without requiring 3D animation skills.

Results: The 10k Unit BAYC Avatar Collection was a massive success, offering BAYC holders unprecedented flexibility and utility with their NFTs. The avatars became a key feature in the BAYC ecosystem, enhancing both the digital and IRL experiences for holders.
