Big Web Quiz

Where are the Aleutian Islands? How many Miley Cyruses tall is Mount Everest? These are just some of the questions on Big Web Quiz for Chromecast, Google's fun and fast-paced multiplayer trivia game.

Another fantastic Google project, this time with our friends at Google Creative Lab. As part of the initial launch of the Google Chromecast 1.0 we were tasked with creating several apps that users could download and run on their new chromecasts. The apps needed to be fun, useful, and demonstrate to the Google development community that the little dongle had some decent capabilities for applications.

We built several applications for Google Chromecast, but the most fun was the Big Web Quiz. We worked closely with the creative team and Google Creative Lab to develop hundreds of hilarious ‘internet based’ questions that teams of up to 6 people could simultaneously play by pairing their phones with the Google Chrome on a shared display (TV).

Questions generated by Google Knowledge Graph appear on a TV screen and players answer them using their phones or tablets. Players' scores are displayed on the TV screen, accompanied by their favorite avatars.
